Kicking off the year, we team up with regulars to the venue, Yahire, to take a look at the furniture trends we can expect to see in 2025...

If we look back at 2024 there were a variety of furniture trends that designers had forecasted would be popular, from darker wood to environmentally friendly items and statement pieces. Let’s take a look at the trends that shaped 2024 in the furniture world…

  • Darker Wood Furniture – The come back of rustic and traditional designs made itself apparent in 2024 and with this comes the growing popularity of darker toned wood bringing warmth and depth to a busy room.
  • Sustainable Items – With events aiming to tackle their environmental impact and the increasing importance of sustainability we have seen many move away from fast-furniture and invest in designs that can truly stand the test of time, from the use of wood to furniture crafted from recyclable materials.
  • Statement Pieces – Whether it’s a pop of colour with contrasting chairs or tables, a statement stone wall, or textured pieces such as a velvet chair or layered rug. All these and more can help make spaces feel different and create a more sensory experience.

One of our local event partners, Yahire, commented on the 2024 trends; ‘We’ve observed a significant rise in demand for velvet soft seating, particularly oversized pieces, and we’re expanding our range to include more of these for 2025. Additionally, dark wood furniture has been a popular choice for many events. Our rustic vintage trestle tables and cross back chairs, for instance, have been especially sought-after for weddings.’

As we begin 2025, we look ahead at the trends that are thought to take the industry by storm…

  • Sustainable pieces and textured materials will be sticking around after they bloomed in 2024.
  • Curves! Curved Furniture is becoming popular as they make spaces more inviting and often fit a room better. They are also more suitable for conversations as people can sit at angles that encourage interaction.
  • Multi-Use; events are looking for furniture that can be used in multiple ways, whether as a table with different tops or something that can be folded and moved out the way. On stands, coffee tables that can be opened up to be used as storage are always handy on exhibitions…
  • Customisable furniture allows exhibitors or organisers select the exact specifications that they want for the stand or room, options such as selecting the type of sofa’s feet, additional fabric selections and even features like fringes, skirts and welting may give furniture a completely distinctive appearance and complete the look of an event.

Our friends at Yahire told us, ‘Looking ahead, we believe customisable furniture will become a lasting trend, giving customers more flexibility when designing their events and provide a very sustainable path, as these items are better for storage, transport and are made locally. We have had many options on this front for years, but to meet this demand, we’ve started crafting more of our own bespoke pieces in our workshop, in collaboration with skilled external craftsmen. This includes items like tables with interchangeable tops, mobile bars with various finish options and service tables designed for versatility.’
