The London Marathon 2025 is here... one of the most iconic events in the UK sporting calendar.

We’re proud advocates for running, health and wellbeing – so it’s no surprise that members of our BDC community are lacing up their running shoes and getting ready to take on 26.2 miles through the heart of the capital.

Whether it’s your first marathon or your fifteenth, the commitment, resilience and positive energy needed to take on this epic challenge are worthy of celebration.

That’s why we’re taking a moment to shine a light a couple of incredible individuals from the BDC family who’ll be running the London Marathon this year; both bringing their own unique motivation and mindset to the course and we couldn’t be more inspired.

Meet Georgie

Georgie is gearing up for her first full marathon, and she’s doing it with equal parts excitement, determination and humour. Working at Signify Digital, Georgie has fitness in her blood, having been a professional swimmer as part of the GB team for many years and a keen runner too.  But this will be her first time running the full 26.2 miles and she is incredibly excited for it

So what is she most looking forward to? “All good things come in threes,” she laughs. “The t-shirt, the medal, and the bragging rights!” And rightly so – completing a marathon is no small feat.

Is there anything she is nervous about? She says “It’s the sheer size and scale of the event that feels overwhelming.” And with thousands of runners and even more spectators expected to line the streets, we can see that it’s easy to feel daunted.

But Georgie’s got her mindset in the right place. She’s been training consistently for a year and a half, and now with two half-marathons under her belt, she’s been seriously committed for the past three months.

Georgie’s advice for anyone taking on the marathon for the first time is golden: Trust the training. The event is the victory lap.”

And as for her snack of choice during those long training runs? A bag of Reversy Percy Pigs, a fun twist on a classic favourite. Fuelled by sweets and determination, Georgie is more than ready for race day.

Meet James

James, from our very own Aztec Event Services is stepping up to the challenge of his first-ever marathon. He’s been training for around 12 weeks and is already visualising the emotional high point of the day: “Seeing my family’s faces at the finish line.”

But like many first-timers, there’s a bit of apprehension too. “I’ve never run further than 25km,” he admits. The unknown can be intimidating but it’s also part of the thrill.

His advice for fellow beginners is spot on: “Go at your speed. Don’t rush into training, or you’ll only end up injured.” It’s a message that resonates with many people who are tempted to jump straight into long distances without building a base.

As for the running snack that will get him to the finish line, energy gels will be the go-to on race day. We’ll be keeping everything crossed for a great race day and cheering them loudly as they reach the finish line.

Plus, our runners are not just clocking up the miles – they’re also raising money for some fantastic causes. Georgie is running for Oxfam and James for Children with Cancer If you’d like to cheer them on with a donation, you can do so through their links.

There’s something incredibly special about watching people within your own community take on a challenge like the London Marathon. At the BDC, we’re proud not only of the amazing work that happens under our roof every day, but also of the spirit of camaraderie, connection and encouragement that thrives here.

Which is why we couldn’t end this blog without mentioning one of our longest-standing BDC team members and long-time marathon runner – Ed Muboro. Although he sadly won’t be taking part in the London Marathon 2025 due to an injury, his contribution to the running spirit here at the BDC deserves a huge spotlight.

Ed has run an incredible 14 marathons over the years, inspiring so many of us with his dedication, resilience and passion for the sport. While he’s taking a well-earned rest this year, you’ll still find him leading the BDC Run Club every Thursday lunchtime – keeping the community moving, motivated and having fun.

We’ve no doubt Ed will be back to fighting form in no time, and we’re already looking forward to seeing him storm across the finish line at the London Marathon 2026 – in record time, no doubt!

Whether it’s training for a marathon, organising a fundraiser, or simply supporting one another through busy periods and big events – we’re here for each other. That’s the beauty of being part of the BDC, we’re more than just a place to work, we are a vibrant business community that champions wellbeing, connection and ambition. From our weekly run club to the world leading events we host, there’s always something to get involved in.
