Join us for part two, taking a look at the highlights of 2023 with team BDC...
As we begun our ‘2023 at the BDC’ series, speaking with Dominic, Max and Kate, let’s find out from more of the team on their favourite moments and achievements that took place this year at the venue…
Ed Muboro, Security and Car Park Supervisor
If you could describe this year in one word, what would it be and why?
Rewarding. I appreciated the support and success for a Diwali lunch event I hosted last month with the team. Also it was great being involved in charity project with Think Forward, where we mentored young people on mock interviews. We have also achieved some great feedback from tenants during a company survey which acknowledged and praised my customer service at front of house. There was also successful integration and completion of the car park ticketless system which was swift and seamless.
What has your favourite moment been this year for the BDC and why?
Definitely the Diwali lunch party with Hemen. It was great to celebrate a cultural event with the wider team and our residents, educating all on the Festival of Light.
What are you looking forward to next year for the BDC and why?
I am filled excitement for another very busy exhibition calendar! 2024 is going to be bigger and better than ever.
Carly King, Property Manager
If you could describe this year in one word, what would it be and why?
Productive. We have had an extremely successful year with filling our showrooms and offices, leaving us with an amazing portfolio of residents that we are extremely proud of.
What has your favourite moment been this year for the BDC and why?
The opening of the Zumtobel and Villeroy & Boch showrooms. So amazing to see such high profile design brands in prominent spaces with gorgeous units and amazing products.
A specific personal achievement that you’re proud of?
It was my 20 year BDC anniversary this year. Unbelievable. It’s gone so quickly!
What are you looking forward to next year for the BDC and why?
I’m really excited to see how myself and Luke can develop the department and get close to 100% let with more amazing brands.
Leanne Pettyfer, Business Administration Manager
If you could describe this year in one word, what would it be and why?
Rewarding. I was able to work with Mencap and offer two six-month internships for their learners. We were able to provide venue experience and beyond, hopefully helping with their future work endeavours. Watching their confidence grow and being able to help their development was very rewarding.
What has your favourite moment been this year for the BDC and why?
Joining the AEV DE&I working group and sharing ideas with the BDC team to continue our journey of making the business and venue an even more inclusive place to work in and visit.
A specific personal achievement that you’re proud of?
Working with Mencap and feeling that I have changed some people’s perceptions of people with learning disabilities and their capabilities in the workplace.
What are you looking forward to next year for the BDC and why?
Working with our BDC DE&I group and with Kate and Sherry on our DE&I goals for the business and venue.
