We spoke to Andrew Barrow, Sales Director at Evoca, to learn more about the company, its journey, and why he loves being at the BDC.
Bringing Exceptional Coffee to the BDC
Evoca is a powerhouse in the world of coffee machines, originating from northern Italy and home to renowned brands such as Gaggia and Necta. “Evoca is mainly focused on bringing excellent coffee to all out-of-home locations,” explains Andrew.
The Gaggia brand is known for its ultra stylish professional coffee machines that cater to offices, coffee shops, bars, and hotels. Meanwhile, Necta manufactures both coffee vending machines and tabletop coffee machines, also designed for professional settings.
Although Evoca may be a relatively new name in the industry, the company’s roots stretch back centuries. “Evoca is a relatively new name for a company that has been around for a very long time,” Andrew notes. “The roots of the company in the UK can be traced back to the 1850s, and the traditional metalworking of the Black Country. Eventually, this company evolved into GKN Sankey – a historic name in the manufacture of vending machines, which has led us to the position we are in today.”
Now headquartered in Valbrembo, Northern Italy, Evoca boasts over 30 hubs worldwide, serving more than 135 countries. With 1,500 employees manufacturing and selling around 150,000 machines per year, Evoca has cemented itself as a key player in the coffee machine industry.
The BDC Showroom
For Andrew, one of the standout moments in his three years at Evoca has been the opening of the company’s London showroom at the BDC in May last year. “This has given us a fantastic resource to showcase our diverse range of coffee machines to our distributors and their customers in the heart of the capital,” he says.
Located in one of London’s most well-connected areas, the BDC showroom provides an accessible and welcoming space for customers. “Our customers love how easy it is to get here,” Andrew adds. “The access is fantastic, the welcome for all guests when they arrive is exceptional, and our showroom here has given us the commercial boost that we had hoped it would.”
A Commitment to Sustainability
As the F&B culture continues to evolve, sustainability has become a focus point for Evoca. “We are making big strides towards greater sustainability – and ensuring that we can communicate this in a clear way to all stakeholders,” Andrew highlights.
“It’s increasingly important to our customers and their end-user clients to understand how our manufacturing processes are incorporating more sustainable materials and building in features that reduce running costs and energy consumption.”
Evoca’s dedication to sustainability has not gone unnoticed. The company was recently awarded an EcoVadis Platinum rating, placing it among the top 1% of companies in the machinery sector globally. “It’s a hot topic, and Evoca is proud to be leading the way in the industry on this,” says Andrew.
The Future of Evoca
With a roadmap for future innovation already set, Evoca continues to refine its product portfolio to make life easier for customers. “Evoca is a company that never stands still,” says Andrew. “There will be some big changes to our product portfolio over the coming months and years, and this is only going to make life easier and more streamlined for our customers.”
Lastly, what are Andrew’s thoughts on being one of the hundreds businesses who have opened their doors here at the BDC?
“We are delighted to be one of the tenants at the BDC – we feel that we have found the right home for Evoca,” Andrew shares. “It provides an excellent environment for us to showcase our brands and machines. The team and the other tenants have made us feel very much at home here.”
