Planning a trip to the BDC? Got a group to entertain? Find out what the #BDCRecommends...
Whether you’re organising an event with us, staying for a weekend post show or want to know some of the top local tips; we’ve put together some of the best bits in the area as recommended by our very own BDC team. Whether it’s activities to entertain, or food and drink to satisfy – Islington has it all.
Day One
Start your day with breakfast at the classy Bellanger on Islington Green. Open from 8am you can have your eggs and coffee to get going or take it more leisurely on the weekend when they serve brunch from 11.30am – 5.00pm.
During the day you can’t get a more exciting activity in London at the moment than the incredible Crystal Maze Live Experience! Take on the maze with a team of friends or colleagues just like they do on TV culminating in a real life countdown in the dome. Tickets sell fast so keep an eye out or the new wave of releases and for event organisers in the know – book for your post BDC event fun!
The evening in Islington is when Upper Street really comes to life with hundreds of bars and restaurants to choose from you are truly spoilt for choice! If you love steak then we’d recommend Marco Pierre White’s restaurant on Pentonville Road. Following a recent refurb the restaurant is open for dinner and we promise; it doesn’t disappoint. If meat isn’t your thing then do we have a treat for you?! The Gate just down on St John Street is hands down one of London’s best vegetarian restaurants and is definitely worth a visit.
To stay overnight the Hilton Double Tree is a great option – because why wouldn’t you want a warm cookie on arrival at a hotel? They’ve got room sizes for everyone and are conveniently located a few minutes’ walk from Angel tube station and just up the road from Kings Cross and St Pancras International.
Not ready for bed just yet? No problem! Islington has a great night scene whether you fancy some classy cocktails or a proper British pub you’ll be spoilt for choice. We recommend Barrio North for some kitschy cocktails and if you have a group then book out their caravan at the back for some holiday vibes. Across the road you’ll find the traditional English Pub The Old Queens Head which is open late and hosts a carefully selected calendar of entertainment including quiz nights comedy live music and more.
