Here at the BDC, we are partial to an after-work social and we are extremely fortunate to be located in the very heart of Angel, home to some of the best bars and pubs in all of London.
If you are visiting us for one of our world-leading events or exhibitions, you may want to explore the town and see what Angel has to offer. It’s a great way to continue networking and toast to a successful and fun filled day at our historic venue.
Here is our list of the best bars in Angel to go to for a post-event drink, all conveniently located within walking distance from the BDC.
Homeboy Bar
Bringing Irish charm and outstanding cocktails to Essex Road, Homeboy Bar is the perfect place to come and relax after a day at the BDC. Not your traditional Irish bar, it steers clear of the usual cliché to offer something exciting and fresh. Founded by a true Dubliner, this bar combines home comforts and top-tier cocktails, all set to a hip-hop and RnB soundtrack.
Since its opening in December 2018, Homeboy has earned acclaim as one of the best bars in Angel for its unique blend of Irish culture and contemporary service and is frequently featured on international lists of the best cocktail bars in the capital. Its speakeasy feel and casual vibe make it a great place to unwind with some of their uniquely named cocktails or a classic pint of Guinness.

The Earl of Essex
When it comes to pubs in Angel, you are spoiled for choice but one of our all-time favourites has to be The Earl of Essex. With its extensive list of local and international independent beers and an amazing outdoor area, it’s the perfect place for post-event networking in an authentic pub setting.
The beautiful patio at the back is the ideal spot to soak up the sun while you sip on one of their carefully selected beers. It does get particularly busy when the sun is shining so make sure to get there early if you are looking to secure a spot outside.
All the staff have exceptional knowledge of the beers on offer and are more than happy to give you a taste to help you make your choice from their excellent selection.

Simmons Bar
Simmons Bar has taken over London and is the place to go for those seeking affordable and fun happy hour cocktails and a lively place to mingle. Known for having the longest happy hour in London – which lasts an incredible five hours – here you can party the night away.
Each day of the week features different drink deals, from Margarita Mondays to Teapot Tuesdays, where you can drink a selection of cocktails from their colourful teapots. The neon signs and quirky decor create a fun and vibrant atmosphere that Simmons has become so well known for. Having popped up all over London, their location in Angel is well with the visit.

No trip to Angel is complete without visiting Regent’s Canal, where you’ll find Burno’s. This floating cocktail bar is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day, offering an intimate and upscale atmosphere. Named after the owner’s pet staffy, Bruno’s is conveniently located next to sister restaurant Caravel for those that fancy grabbing dinner too.
