During late October and November 2024, there will be resurfacing works taking place along sections of Upper Street.

Road Works

Transport for London (TfL) have advised that they will be resurfacing a section of the A1 (Upper Street) between Pentonville Road and Laycock Street from Monday 28th October and Monday 25th November. The work will be taking place overnight between 20.00 and 06.00 and the closures will be carried out in a phased approach, meaning Upper Street should only ever be partly closed throughout this period, with diversions in place.

This work is taking place on the A1 (Upper Street) to the front of the venue, so access to the Loading Bay for build up and breakdown of events will be possible as usual.

Please note: There will be no vehicle access into Berners Road at the entrance to the car park and venue all day on Sunday 3rd November and this phase of the work will be completed by 06.00 on Monday 4th November.  We will ensure that those in the car park will still be able to exit during this time.

Local traffic diversions will be in place during these works, which are required to improve the long-term condition of the road, allowing people and vehicles to move more efficiently and safely across the TfL road network.

Walking routes, cycling and bus journeys

Please be aware that bus services may be affected by the work and bus stops may have to be temporarily close and replaced by temporary stops. You can visit tfl.gov.uk/bus/status or follow @TfLBusAlerts on X for live updates.

Pavements and pedestrian crossings will remain open wherever possible, but when cycling please follow signage to ensure you are travelling safely. You can use TfL’s journey planner before you travel.

Getting to the BDC

The Business Design Centre is located in a well-connected area of London, but you may find that driving during these times will take longer if visiting by car, due to diversions that may be in place.

London Underground Services

Access by London Underground services are still possible, with our nearest stations at Angel and Highbury and Islington. You can head to the TfL Journey Planner to access the best journey to the venue.

Bus Routes

Islington is served by many bus routes that stop outside the venue and nearby, however during this time they may follow a diversion. You can visit tfl.gov.uk/bus/status or follow @TfLBusAlerts on X for live updates.

Cycling

If you choose to cycle to the BDC, we offer free cycle storage in our on-site car park. You can also rent Santander bikes from several hire stations in the Islington area. In addition, we have several shower facilities on site at the venue, which can be used on arrival.

Driving

You can reach the BDC by car, and although we are a stone’s throw from Central London, we are not in the Congestion Charge Zone. Visit our Parking section to find our address for your sat nav and to pre-book your parking space.
